Aishah Ahmed and Edward Adamu have been nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari to serve as the Central Bank of Nigeria’s deputy directors for a second term. The Presidency revealed this in a statement on Tuesday afternoon. Next year, President Muhammadu Buhari will resign from his position.

Aishah Ahmad and Edward Adamu’s names have been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation as deputy governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria, according to a statement from the president’s media aide (CBN).

He stated, “The president requested that the Senate confirm the nominees to serve a second and final term at the apex bank.

On March 23, 2018, Aishah Ahmad was named deputy governor of the CBN. She is in charge of directing the effort to foster a stable financial system in Nigeria, one of the main goals of the Bank as outlined in the CBN Act, in her capacity as deputy governor in charge of financial system stability.

Aishah had over 22 years of experience as a corporate executive and finance specialist before to being appointed to the CBN. She was Diamond Bank Plc’s executive director of retail banking at the time.

She has worked for a number of financial companies throughout her banking and investment career, including NAL Bank Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, and Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc (a subsidiary of Standard Bank Group, SA).

On March 23, 2018, Mr. Edward Lametek Adamu was first appointed as the Central Bank of Nigeria’s deputy governor. He earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) with Honors in Quantity Surveying with Second Class Upper Division from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria in 1981.

In 1983, he started working for the Unified Public Service (UPS) as a civil servant for Bauchi State. He worked for UPS for 35 years, 25 of which were spent in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
