Bruce Travis McGill is an American actor. He is popular for his work in the films The Insider (1999), Ali (2001) and Collateral (2004) with director Michael Mann. Many notable film roles at McGill include Daniel Simpson’s D-Day at Animal House, Com, to John Landis. Matuzak in Timecop, Reverend Larson in Shallow Hal, Gene Revell in The Sum of All Fears and Lt. Brooks in Ride Along and its sequel Ride Along 2.

Bruce McGill’s television appearances include Jack Dalton on MacGyver (1985–1992) and Det. Vince Korsak on Rizzoli & Isles (2010-2016). He also played Captain Braxton in an episode of Star Trek Voyager (1999) and spoke on The Cleveland Show (2012-2014) to Lloyd Waterman, the owner of the Waterman Cable. He played Ralph Houk in Billy Crystal’s television movie 61* (2001). McGill ran a series of ads supporting Donald Trump and the Republican Party in the 2016 presidential election.

BRUCE MCGILL: EARLY CHILDHOOD, EDUCATION AND FAMILY

McGill was born on July 11, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas, the son of artist Adriel Rose and real estate and insurance agent Woodrow Wilson McGill. Likewise, he graduated in drama from Douglas MacArthur High School in the northeast part of San Antonio and the University of Texas at Austin. Likewise, he is related to former Texas state senator AR Schwartz.

BRUCE MCGILL: CAREER AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

In many films McGill has appeared, perhaps his best-known role is ‘D-Day’ in the National Lampoon’s 1978 comedy classic Animal House, a role McGill was desperate to play at the time, se remembering his days as a young unemployed actor sitting in a casting office in New York. Likewise, he played the William Tell Overture in Animal House by beating his fingertips on his trachea. Also, in MacGyver he replicated this talent, playing ‘Rock-The-Cradle’ to lull a child to sleep under his care.

In Season 3, Babylon 5 episode ‘Severed Dreams’ (which won the 1997 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation) McGill also played Major Ed Ryan. Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski originally planned for Everett McGill to play the role. However, he did not know McGill’s first name, so when he asked to be contacted, Straczynski was asked if he meant Bruce McGill, to which he said yes. Although this became apparent to Straczynski when Bruce McGill met with him to discuss the role that was not the McGill Straczynski had in mind, Straczynski decided to use him instead.

In the 2016 US election, during his campaign, McGill narrated several advertisements for Donald Trump. In February 2017, he would be a guest star as a decorated Vietnam War veteran on the series NCIS. The series was America’s action police procedural television. McGill is currently the narrator of the Scandalous Fox News series.
