Wilson married Melinda Kae Ledbetter in 1995, a car saleswoman and former model whom he first met in 1986. The couple dated for three years until Eugene Landy called it quits.
Wilson was a patient on Landy’s 24-hour therapy. Three years into Ledbetter and Wilson’s relationship, Landy ordered Wilson to sever ties with Ledbetter. After Landy was hit with a 1991 court order that prohibited him from contacting Wilson,Wilson and Ledbetter reconnected in 1992 and married on February 6, 1995. Ledbetter became Wilson’s manager in 1999. In 2015, Wilson credited Ledbetter with helping with part of the production of his No Pier Pressure album.
Wilson and Ledbetter are blessed with five children. The family resides in Beverly Hills.

Wilson is one of the co-founders of the Beach Boys. The Beach Boys performed at the Ritchie Valens Memorial Dance on New Year’s Eve, 1961. The other Living Beach Boys are; Mike Love, Al Jardine , Bruce Johnston, David Marks and Blondie Chaplin.

Wilson struggled with mental illness for over 50 years and was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and mild manic depression.
He was also diagnosed in 1984 as a paranoid schizophrenic, with doctors finding evidence of brain damage from Wilson’s prolonged and excessive use of psychedelic drugs like LSD. (Wilson warned of the dangers of these drugs in the decades that followed.)
