1. Brian began his singing journey by joining the choir at Porter Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington.
2. He later joined his high school choir and also began acting in the school production of Grease in which he was cast as Roger.
3. He played basketball in both the Little League and the Babe Ruth League, and at age 15 aspired to be a basketball player with the Kentucky Wildcats .
4. He struggled with his dream of becoming a basketball player due to his small size.
5. While continuing his schooling, he also worked at the Long John Silver’s restaurant and occasionally performed at weddings.
6. Realizing he had no future in basketball, Brian made plans to attend Cincinnati Bible College on a full scholarship to become secretary of music, as music was just as important to him. However, he dropped that plan to join the Backstreet Boys club .
7. In 1998 he underwent heart surgery to correct the congenital heart defect he had had since birth.
8. Brian is the founder of the Healthy Heart Club, a non-profit organization that supports children with heart disease through medical, financial, and practical help.
