BRIAN DEEGAN RACING CARRIÈRE
Brian was born in Omaha, Nebraska. He became a professional supercross rider with Team Moto XXX at the age of 17. In 1997 at the LA Coliseum Brian won the 125cc main race and Ghost crossed the finish line. This was the start of what we know today as Freestyle Motocross. In 2004 at the Winter X Games Brian crashed while attempting a 360 on a 100ft snow double, breaking his femur and both wrists.
He returned 6 months later to place fourth at the Summer X Games. Brian was also the first rider to land a 360 in competition. Switching to four wheels in 2009, Brian ventured into off-road racing in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series Unlimited Lites division, winning the championship over experienced riders. At the 2010 X Games, Brian completed the Rally Car Racing event at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. He finished second to Tanner Foust due to a wrong turn made during the race.
Brian also finished in Rally Car Super Rally where he also finished second to Tanner Foust. At X Games XVII, Brian won gold in RallyCross. In 2012 he won the world championship race at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway in the Traxxas TORC series. He also completed the Race of Champions. He also won the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series Pro Lite Unlimited and Pro 2 class championships.
In 2012, he launched the Metal Mulisha Monster truck. Todd LeDuck officially made his debut at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas in January 2012. Brian himself drove the truck in Phoenix, Arizona in January 2012. He was scheduled to drive the truck at Monster Jam Wolrd Finals 13 but ended up injured during driving training. Todd LeDuc replaced him. He also won his second championship in the Pro 2 class of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series.
Brian raced an OlsbergsMSE Ford Fiesta in the Global RallyCross Championship, placing second in 2012, fourth in 2013 and 12th in 2014. He also continued his career in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, winning the Pro Light Unlimited Championship in 2013 and the Pro 2 Championship in 2014. In 2015, Brian was hired by Chip Ganassi Racing to race in seven World Rallycross Championship races in an M-Sport Fiesta with former pro motocross rider Jeff Ward.

During a 2005 taping of MTV’s Viva La Bam, Brian undertuned, back flipped, and the handlebars hit hard in his midsection, nearly losing his life. He lost a kidney, mutilated his spleen and lost a significant amount of blood. He now has a long scar in his stomach, which he calls his “zipper”, covering almost his entire abdomen, from the accident. At the end of the episode when it first aired, Bam dedicated it to Brian.The crash was cut from the show. Also during the recording of the same show, Bam Margera’s uncle, Don Vito, was forced by his nephew to lie on the ground with the intention of Brian and two other people jumping over him, to what Margera and Brian called the ‘Fatboy Jump World Record’. Vito was held by the feet and arms by Margera and Raab himself in order to restrain him. The bikers jumped over Vito, with Brian forced to miss him by less than a foot, which surprised Vito. This track was featured on the show.
Brian and Berkela Films released a film in 2006, titled Disposable Hero which follows him through the struggles and rewards that come with the sport and lifestyle of freestyle motocross. Jesse James, Ronnie Faist, Jeremy Stenberg, Cameron Steele, Chris Ackerman, Nate Adams and Seth Enslow are some of the star actors who talk about Brian and his life’s journeys. The film aired on Spike TV on December 5, 2007.
