Brett Butler (born Brett Anderson) is an American actress, writer and comedian. In the comedy series Grace Under Fire, she played the title role. She won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Female Performer in a New Television Series. She also won the Q Award for Best Actress in a Quality Comedy Series Grace Under Fire in 1993.

CAREER OF BRETT BUTLER
Butler’s first notable appearances were in Dolly Parton’s ill-fated 1987 variety series Chariot . She was hired as a writer for the remainder of the show’s season, but the show was later canceled after a lackluster ratings season.
From 1993 to 1998, she was the star of the ABC television show Grace Under Fire. During the show, she battled recurring drug addiction and spent time in rehab.
The same year, she was fired from the follow-up show ABC canceling the series due to her erratic behavior resulting from substance abuse.
In 1996 Butler published his memoir, titled Knee Deep in Paradise, the book was launched before he achieved stardom, and frankly addresses much of this period, ending the autobiography before the first appearance in Grace Under Fire TV.
After Grace was canceled in 1998, Butler moved from Los Angeles to a farm in Georgia where she lived with 15 pets. In 2008, she headlined an arts fundraiser and spoke freely with a reporter about her depression, past drug addiction, television work and current life on a farm. She has also expressed interest in writing another book.
In 2011, she also appeared on The Rosie Show and has said she has been sober since 1998. She was also struggling to make a career comeback and was working on a reality show about her self-proclaimed psychic abilities. and performing at the Downtown Comedy Club in Los Angeles.
In 2012, she also appeared in a recurring role on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless as well as the role of ex-psychiatrist Tim Reid’s girlfriend. She also had a recurring role as a bartender at the restaurant Charlie Goodson frequents on the FX show Anger Management with Charlie Sheen.
