He triumphed in adventure movies during the 90s. He was also quite successful in his comic roles and everything indicated that, in a very short time, he would become the worthy heir to Indiana Jones. But then his star began to decline. Who knows if he will one day return to the top…

Brendan Fraser was born on December 3, 1968 in Indianapolis, United States. Although during his childhood he lived in countries like Switzerland, the Netherlands and Canada, his parents’ native country. While on vacation in London, he gave his first stage performance. Initially, his plan was to go to college in Texas but he stopped at Hollywood, where he decided to settle and look for work in the film industry. The actor has three children, the fruit of his marriage to Afton Smith, with whom he has been married for nine years since 1998.

His first roles were in the film Private School (1992) and in the comedy Airheads (1994), alongside Steve Buscemi and Adam Sandler . His first major leading role would come three years later with George of the Jungle , which despite the bad reviews he received, did very well at the box office and catapulted the actor to fame.

In 1998 he got a role in the excellent Gods and Monsters , starring the great Ian Mckellen . Fraser was lauded for his supporting performance in this dramatic film that tells the story of film director James Whale . The following year, he was starring in as many as three films: the comedies Dudley of the Mountain and Looking for Eve . But, without a doubt, of all his performances that year, and it can be said that of his entire career as well, the most successful was his incarnation of the adventurer Rick O’Connell in The Mummy , a film in which he accompanied the beautiful Egyptologist Evelyn , represented by Rachel Weisz, in his investigation in the City of the Dead in Egypt. Fraser was then on the rise and everything indicated that his career had only just begun.

After his role in the simple To hell with the devil (2000), he got back into the skin of Rick O’Connell in The Mummy Returns , released in 2001. And it would not be the last time since he did it again seven years later in the third part, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor . A year later he starred with Michael Caine in a drama with a dose of espionage and intrigue titled The Quiet American , adapted from the novel by Graham Greene . He also worked on Looney Tunes. Back in action , he failed experiment of mixing animation and actors. It is worth noting among all his filmography the presence of a great film: Crash. The actor took on the role of the Los Angeles district attorney in this film that won 3 Oscars, including Best Picture in 2006, and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Cast.

Since then, Brendar Fraser has been seen in entertaining but simple blockbusters, such as Corazón de Tinta or Journey to the Center of the Earth , or in very low-level comedies such as En pata de guerra . She also worked on Extraordinary Measures , a drama that went through the theaters very unnoticed.

He has recently participated in the miniseries Texas Rising , which was widely criticized when it premiered at the beginning of 2015. He has also collaborated in several low-budget films such as Heist in Belfast (2011) or Looking for a destination  (2013).

Fraser is a clear specialist in family cinema: many of his comedies and adventure films are good choices for a family afternoon in front of the screen.
