Brenda graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor’s degree as well as an MBA. She has also been honored with doctorates from Cadwell College and from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Currently, she is one of the members of the Board of Directors of Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Brenda Blackmon currently serves as an anchor for PIX11 News along with Kaity Tong. As a presenter, she joined the station in 2016. In New York at WWOR-TV, she had initially co-hosted with Rolland Smith, followed by Sean Mooney. After that, she hooked up with Ernie Anastos and finally Harry Martin.
Before moving to New York, Brenda Blackmon has worked in many cities including Tennessee, Georgia, Nashville, and Columbus. There she was the first black woman as an anchor. Before pursuing a career as a presenter, she worked as a plus-size model.
Brenda Blackmon is very active in community involvement. For some special events, she volunteers at SHARE. In the year 2010 by Queens Courier News, she has been selected as Woman of the Year. In finding a cure for a disease called lupus in the national campaign, she is an active participant. Through her founding Alliance, as well as Lupus Research, Brenda founded the Kelly Fund for Lupus, Inc.
On December 8, 2015, WPIX announced that Brenda was hired as a co-anchor. On January 11 , 2016, she began co-hosting the show, but on September 9, due to the show’s cancellation, she left the station.
Awards and honors
So far Brenda Blackmon has won four Emmy Awards and has also been nominated 15 times and has even received a broadcasting award in the year 2010 from McDonald’s. In honor of her career, WWOR presented her with a special salute. More than a dozen Associate Press awards have been added to her award collection. In addition to that for Excellence in Broadcasting, she has also won two Edward R. Murrow Awards. In addition, her Brenda has received the Shirley Chisholm Award for her service to the public.
Personal life
Brenda currently resides in New York. It seems that this beautiful lady of 64 years does not want to share her personal life with the media. However, she has a daughter named Kelly. Her daughter was a patient of Lupus but has now been cured.
Brenda Blackmon’s then-husband first discovered their unconscious daughter in 2007. He rushed her to the hospital and discovered his daughter’s problem. Brenda even had to suffer domestic violence from her husband. Two decades have passed since her separation from her husband and she currently lives with her daughter.
