Armed police officers have shot the publisher of SaharaReporters and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore during a peaceful protest where they are demanding an end to insecurity in the country.

Moreso, he was shot in the right side of the stomach and closer to the buttock by gun-wielding and blood-thirsty policemen drafted to the Unity Fountain.

According to reports, the policemen had already stationed themselves at the fountain before the arrival of the protesters, thereby opened fire on them; the incident led to several people injured.

Meanwhile, Sowore has been rushed to an undisclosed hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.
