According to Rimaye, the assembly got to know about the incident, when the Clerk of the House instructed the Sergeant At Arms, to go clean up the chamber.
Furthermore, Rimaye added that a team of electricians at the assembly have begun processes to ascertain the real cause, which he attributed to a possible electrical appliance fault, especially the air conditioner which was left on.
He added that the fire extinguishers in the assembly were used to put off the fire before the men of the state’s fire service came to the rescue, resulting in the minimal damage recorded.
The fire appears to have started from behind the Speaker’s seat, which was completely burnt.
