BREAKING: Fire guts Nasarawa police plaza, destroys property
  • Fire gut Nasarawa police plaza, detroyed property valued in the millions of naira

Following a fire outbreak at the Police Plaza, Jos road, Lafia, Nasarawa State, property valued in the millions of naira has been destroyed. An electrical spark in one of the stores around 1 am on Tuesday, according to a witness who saw the fire break out, started our correspondent’s story.

Before Nasarawa State Fire Service personnel arrived to put the fire out, he claimed that the fire had destroyed the majority of the Nigeria Police Force’s property in the building.

He said, “The fire began around 1 am on Tuesday morning. It burnt properties worth millions of naira before the fire service people came.

“They still could not completely put out the fire until 7 am this morning when they sent some more firefighters to the place.

“More than seven shops were affected. A tailoring shop, a boutique, a solar shop, and other big businesses were burnt to ashes.

“I wonder how the business owners will survive after these huge losses that they have encountered. The government should see how to help them out of the situation.”

According to Punch, the POWA Plaza is beside the Office of the Area Commander of the Nigeria Police Force, Lafia, and opposite the 2023 campaign office of Governor Abdullahi Sule.
