KEENER INTERVIEW WITH BIOWARE

BRC: Hello Brandon! We would like to thank you once again for agreeing to answer our questions. Brandon: Hello Ekaterina and the Russian Bioware community! Thank you for your interest and support. I am enjoying a low key holiday with my family and hope you all have a very Merry Christmas. BRC: Unsurprisingly, our community is primarily interested in your cooperation with BioWare and your work on the voice of Garrus. Was it difficult for you to play a character of extraterrestrial origin compared to a regular human character? Brandon: I never thought of Garrus as an alien, actually. I tried to play the truth of each situation. As created by the inspired writers at Bioware, it is formal and specific in its speech; I tried to be faithful to this vision by speaking in a measured way. BRC: Were there any particular moments in the scenes you voiced that stuck in your memory? Brandon: Of course, the classic line about “range and flexibility” is always quoted, for good reason: great dialogue! The final farewell scene with Shepard stands out in my mind as a particularly memorable session. BRC: In Mass Effect, you did a brilliant job creating a brave and strong-willed alien warrior. Could you please tell us, with whom of the real world people would you compare Garrus Vakarian, (either present or past)? which have remained in your memory? Brandon: Of course, the classic line about “range and flexibility” is always quoted, for good reason: great dialogue! The final farewell scene with Shepard stands out in my mind as a particularly memorable session. BRC: In Mass Effect, you did a brilliant job creating a brave and strong-willed alien warrior. Could you please tell us, with whom of the real world people would you compare Garrus Vakarian, (either present or past)? which have remained in your memory? Brandon: Of course, the classic line about “range and flexibility” is always quoted, for good reason: great dialogue! The final farewell scene with Shepard stands out in my mind as a particularly memorable session. BRC: In Mass Effect, you did a brilliant job creating a brave and strong-willed alien warrior. Could you please tell us, with whom of the real world people would you compare Garrus Vakarian, (either present or past)? you have done a brilliant job creating a brave and willful alien warrior. Could you please tell us, with whom of the real world people would you compare Garrus Vakarian, (either present or past)? you have done a brilliant job creating a brave and willful alien warrior. Could you please tell us, with whom of the real world people would you compare Garrus Vakarian, (either present or past)?

Brandon:

I consider him a Mr. Spock with a sniper rifle. BRC: And now we would like to ask a question not to Brandon, but to Garrus Vakarian. “Dear Garrus, we heard you know a man by the name of Keener. What do you think of him? Would you like to join him on his journey wherever he goes – like you did with Commander Shepard? Brandon: If Garrus was willing to babysit my kids while I go to the movies, that would be one of his bravest efforts. BRC: What do you like to do outside of work? Do you have hobbies? Brandon: I spend most of my free time with my family, watching and playing basketball, reading (mostly biographies) and did I mention spending time with my kids? BRC: How do you think, are we alone in the Universe? Which concept of extraterrestrials do you find most truthful – be it a book, a movie or a video game? Brandon: There was a mass sighting in 1966 in the hometown where I grew up, so I heard a lot of stories as a kid. Many people in Fort Smith, AR swear they have encountered flying objects that defied the laws of physics, and some of their descriptions of encounters affected me, as a child, more vividly than any movie or tv show. My son, however, is very impressed with ET and I got an ET doll for Christmas. BRC: By the way, what is your favorite movie? And your favorite book? Brandon: I’m a big fan of everything Martin Scorsese directs. And I go through biographies of all kinds. BRC: What do you like more – acting in a film or doing a voiceover? Brandon: I started out as a stage actor and the voice acting was a pleasant surprise. I enjoy both but seem to have more opportunities in movies and TV.

BRC:

Brandon, you have two grown sons. What kind of people would you like them to be when they grow up? What do you teach them? Brandon: Kindness and respect for others are the most important qualities that my wife and I hope to teach our children. BRC: Please tell us about your artistic projects. Are you working on anything right now? And is there a chance of hearing your voice again in future BioWare games? Brandon: Over the past few months I’ve had success in the comedy/sitcom world, which I really enjoy. I shot a fun holiday shopping commercial that aired a lot on American TV during the holidays, so it was fun for my loved ones. I have a role in a thriller filming in January, so I’ll keep you posted as details are available on that one! BRC: Thanks for your time! If you would like to leave a message for your Russian fans or perhaps ask them a question, we will be happy to pass it on! Brandon: I cannot thank you and the Russian Bioware community enough for your support. Happy holidays and thank you again!
