He played a prison guard in “Orange is the New Black” and one of the plane crash survivors in “Lost.” Brad William Henke passed away on November 28, 2022, in his sleep, without the cause being disclosed. He was 56 years old.

Born on April 10, 1966 in Columbus, Nebraska, Brad William Henke was a member of the football team at the University of Arizona and was later drafted into the National League by the New York Giants in 1989. After a highly successful sports career, a former teammate recommended that he go into advertising. “He told me that actors were needed to play soccer players in commercial pieces, so I gave it a try and soon I was promoting a pizza chain,” he recalled in an interview. “During filming, a boy invited me to attend an acting class, and there I realized that he wanted to dedicate myself to this.”

He gave life to Bram, one of the characters in Lost , the popular ABC series, and in the movies he played Maggie Gyllenhaal ‘s brother in Sherrybaby (2006), Sam Rockwell ‘s best friend in Choke (2008) and a sergeant alongside Brad Pitt in Hearts of Steel (2014).

Additionally, he played prison guard Desi Piscatella on Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black during seasons four and five. Henke was one of the co-stars in the series that received the Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Ensemble in a Comedy in 2016.
