BIOGRAPHY OF BRAD PAISLEY
Brad Paisley (Brad Douglas Paisley) is an American country music singer and songwriter. He was born on October 28, 1972, in Glen Dale, West Virginia, as the only child of Douglas Edward Paisley and Sandra Jean Paisley.
Paisley enrolled in and graduated from John Marshall High School in Glen Dale, West Virginia in 1991, he then joined West Liberty State College in West Liberty, West Virginia for two years. Paisley received a fully paid ASCAP scholarship to Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, studied music business and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1995 from the Mike Curb School of Music Business. He interned at ASCAP, Atlantic Records and the Fitzgerald-Hartley management company
After graduating from Belmont, Paisley signed a songwriting contract with EMI Music Publishing; and he wrote David Kersh’s “Top 5” hit, “Another You,” as well as David Ball’s 1999 single, “Watching My Baby Not Come Back.” This latter song was also co-written by Ball.
His debut as a singer was with the Arista Nashville label, with the song “Who Needs Pictures”. In May of the same year, he made his first appearance on the Grand Ole Opry. Seven months later, he had his first No. 1 hit with ‘He Didn’T Have to Be’, which detailed the story of Kelley Lovelace, frequent co-writer of Paisley and Lovelace’s stepson, McCain Merren .
Paisley has sold over 12 million albums and won three Grammy Awards, 14 Academy of Country Music Awards, 14 Country Music Association Awards and two American Music Awards. He won country music’s crowning glory by becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry.

Back Pick Rakes
This refers to when you strum dead strings to reach the note you are targeting. The right t this is to feed the lower strings completely muted to attack a note on the 2nd string. Brad goes the traditional route all the time, but he also likes to accent the important notes on the low strings with back pick rakes
The rules for a back pick rake are the same, instead of strumming to get to your note, you strum up starting at the 1st string and stopping at the note you want. Use this technique on low notes that require a bit more explosiveness and thickness than standard picking can provide
Triplets, triplets, triplets
playing just sounded tough. Now about 90% of his fast playing sounds hard, and the rest he plays triplets with pull-offs.
Brad likes to play two harmonized notes back to back – usually thirds or sixths – then pull an open string from the higher of the two notes. The pull-off to the open rope does not require additional energy, so it can increase its speed by 33% without any additional work. For the right hand, always pick the bottom note, pluck the top note with your middle finger, and pull the open note. You will find your rhythm
Open String Executions
For his fastest licks, Brad relies heavily on open strings and familiar positions. In each of the main “guitar-friendly” keys (E, A, D, G, and C) there are two “silver bills” on each string, which when combined with an open string can drive you up or down from the open position in a fury.When descending, the picking hand should use the following pattern: down, up, pull-off. The ascending version of the pattern would be down, hammer, up, with “up” being the first note of the next string. In the following five examples, I’ll demonstrate this concept in our guitar-friendly keys.
The G-Bender
Brad has his electric guitars fitted with a device called a G-bender. Instead of attaching his strap the conventional way, he attaches only one end to the button on the lower guitar strap. The other end of the strap attaches to a lever connected to the neck plate. This lever is linked to a device that runs through the inside of the guitar’s body and eventually ends up under the bridge at the G string. which causes the bending mechanism to precisely raise the pitch of the G string by a whole step.
