BOYZ II MEN

Boyz II Men is an American R&B vocal group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, formed in 1988 at Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts.

Nathan Morris and Marc Nelson created the gathering, originally known as Unique Attraction. Different people went back and forth due to graduation, however, Morris and Nelson, in the end, met Wanya Morris, Shawn Stockman and Michael McCary, and the gathering settled down. They took the motivation from popular R&B group New Edition and renamed themselves Boyz II Men after their song Boys to Men. It is currently a trio composed of baritone Nathan Morris, near tenors Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman.

Boyz II Men is the most financially successful R&B gathering ever. They sold a slew of records and delivered three of the longest running popular No. 1 singles in music history. The cutting-edge R&B band are known for their flawless blend of four-section harmonies, and their impact is still felt to this day.

BOYZ II MEN’S HISTORY

Boyz II Men formed in 1988 at Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts. Nathan Morris and Marc Nelson created the gathering, originally known as Unique Attraction. In 1987, Wanya Morris, who sang in the school ensemble alongside the people of Unique Attraction, joined the gathering and became a lifelong actor as he was just a rookie. In 1988, Baldi, Shoats, and Walker all left the rally due to graduation.

At that time, they enrolled Shawn Stockman after seeing him perform a school-wide solo. One day, Nate, Marc, Wanya and Shawn were rehearsing harmonies in a school bathroom and walking around Michael McCary who started ringing with the rally and would, in the long run, become the new bassist for the rally. The muster would practice in high school restrooms, due to the great acoustics, and on the sides of their schools and neighborhood bases.

They got their huge break in 1989 when they slipped backstage at a show to sing for New Edition and Bell Biv DeVoe as Michael Bivins. They sang an a cappella version of the song from the new edition Can You Stand the Rain. Bivins was intrigued and agreed to help them get tagged. Marc Nelson didn’t leave the gathering well before they began to gnaw through their collection of presentations, supposedly because of character contrasts. The band grew into a foursome with Michael McCary, Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman who would soon find worldwide popularity.

BOYZ II MEN TOUR

Boyz II End of the Road

While on tour in 1992, Boyz II Men briefly returned to the studio to record the single “End of the Road”, co-written and produced by Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, for the soundtrack to the Eddie Murphy movie Boomerang. This song, released as a single on June 30, 1992, became Boyz II Men’s biggest hit. It reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on August 22, staying there for a record 13 weeks, until November 14, 1992. The success of “End of the Road” instantly transformed Boyz II Men from top to bottom. future R&B stars in mainstream music celebrities.

A revamped Cooleyhighharmony was reissued in 1993, with ‘End of the Road’ added as a special bonus track, but ‘End of the Road’ initially only appeared on the Boomerang soundtrack. The track was later included in a collection of singles produced by Michael Bivins called ‘East Coast Family, Vol. 1”. Shortly after this compilation was released, Boyz II Men and Michael Bivins parted ways professionally. Boyz II Men continued to work with Babyface and other high-profile record producers over the following years.
