- Early in his wrestling career, he met legendary wrestler Val Venis at a local gym. Venis decided to train him for free.
- Before focusing on his wrestling career, he had attended community college in his hometown, which led to him working as a corrections officer.
- His first memory of a wrestling show was Randy Savage’s reunion with Miss Elizabeth at WrestleMania VII.
- During the early 2000s, he was featured in numerous dark matches that weren’t warm-ups for WWE Toronto events. He participated in such competitions for about 6 years.
- When he was signed by TNA in May 2004, he participated in the independent Canadian promotion. Border City Wrestling . Incidentally, he was brought to TNA by Scott D’Amore, the owner of Border City Wrestling .
