Bob Kevoian (born Robert James Kevoian) is a retired American radio host of the nationally broadcast radio show The Bob & Tom Show with his partner, Tom Griswold. The show airs from WFBQ studios in Indianapolis, Indiana.

BOB KEVOIAN’S CAREER

He began an internship for a station in Los Angeles, then worked as a sound engineer for the touring Young Americans for three years.

From there he took a job at a radio station in Michigan. After three years, he moved to another Michigan station, WJML.

While working as a bartender to supplement his income as a radio host, he met Tom Griswold, an unemployed radio host from Florida who was looking for a new station.

The two radio personalities teamed up and started their legendary and successful morning show, “The Bob & Tom Show” in 1983. It has continued in syndication to this day.

He toured the United States for three years as sound engineer for The Young Americans Kevoian began his radio career at WMBN in Petoskey, Michigan in 1979.

This lasted until 1982, when Kevoian joined WJML Intercity. This is where Bob and Tom teamed up for a regular morning show.

They were there for 12 to 18 months. The pairing of one of syndicated radio’s most successful morning shows came when Kevoian, a radio personality, cleared himself as a bartender in Harbor Springs, Michigan, in Bar Harbor. “In small town radio, you had to supplement your income by doing whatever,” says the Long Beach State University alum.

“Tom came by after a J. Geils concert at Castle Farms in [nearby] Charlevoix and ordered a drink. At the end of the bar was another guy who worked in country radio. The two radio talents we’re talking about the inferior nature of the cart machines of their respective stations.

“Tom heard us and asked if we worked on radio and I told him I did lunchtime,” Kevoian recalled. “Tom said he spent a year in radio in Florida, but was unemployed and wanted to visit the station and watch the trades.

Two days later, he was hired as my PD; it was pretty wild. They got 44 audience shares and to get rid of that, the contest made a compilation of their best tunes and mailed it to the Superstars Convention, a gathering of program directors from 300 stations, where it has been diffused.

They started getting offers from all over the country. He came to WFBQ radio in Indianapolis in early 1978. He is the producer, director, writer and credits of The Bob and Tom Show Home Movie, 2004.

Bob participated in the shows Bob and Tom Radio: The Comedy Tour recorded in Anderson, Indiana. Kevoian has personally produced over 15,000 “bits” used on his show, some of which are actually his brainchild.

Bob announced his retirement effective November 5, 2015, after being inducted with Tom Griswold into the National Radio Hall of Fame.

His last live show as a co-host aired on December 17, 2015. On November 17, 2016, Bob and Tom were reunited when they were inducted into the Indiana Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

Bob made his first post-retirement appearance as a guest host on April 3, 2017, when the show was in Cincinnati for the Cincinnati Reds home opener.

He returned again on December 8, 2017, replacing Tom Griswold. Kevoian returned again on March 30, 2018 and March 28, 2019 for the Cincinnati Reds’ opening day broadcast.
