Born in Washington, DC and raised in South Florida, Scott Thuman attended Martin County High School in Stuart, Florida. After graduation, he attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida, where he graduated in 1995 with a BA in Communications with a concentration in Spanish.
Thuman also attended the FBI Citizens Academy Field Office in Washington.

Scott Thuman began his career as a journalist fresh out of Florida Southern College as a reporter for Florida-licensed Univision affiliate organization WLTV . He worked for the station for five years before moving to the ABC affiliate. WFTV Channel 9 in 2005, where he was a news reporter. He spent another five years with the network before returning to Washington and joining the ABC affiliate. WJLA – TV.
Thuman was the designated Senior Political Reporter at WJLA-TV beginning in 2005. As of December 2012, Thuman became the host of WJLA-TV’s morning news show. Good morning Washington. He also hosted the evening news show on ABC7.
Thuman left all his previous engagements and took up a position with the Sinclair Broadcast Group as its Senior Political Correspondent in January 2016. He reports nightly from the nation’s capital at the White House, the Capitol, and reports on issues related to international affairs, terrorism and the military. He also reports for the national weekly morning news show, Full Measure.
He was married to Autria Godfrey
Scott Thuman with journalist Autria Godfrey while working at WJLA-TV on their morning political talk show, Good Morning Washington . They began dating and were married in 2008. They ended up divorcing and Thuman left WJLA-TV so Godfrey replaced Thuman as host of Good Morning Washington in 2013.
