He became a teen idol for the role of him in the television show Dr. Kildare which aired from 1961 to 1966. Born on March 31, 1934 in Beverly Hills, California, he is the son of Elsa Winnifred and Charles Axiom Chamberlain.
He graduated from Beverly Hills High School and went to Pomona College. After graduating from the University with a Bachelor of Arts, he went to Korea serving 16 months as an infantry company clerk, and then rose to the rank of sergeant.
After returning to the United States, he studied acting and became active in the entertainment field. He has been active in this field since 1958. Since then, he has acted in many movies, classical theater roles, and musical theater as well.
