Born and raised in Minneapolis, Rachael Leigh Cook is an American actress, model, broadcaster, and producer. She is best known for her role in films such as She’s All That (1999) and Josie and the Pussycats (2001). She made her acting debut in the 1995 film, The Baby-Sitters Club as Mary Anne Spier. She rose to fame after appearing in the famous television ad, This Is Your Brain on Drugs PSA.
Early life and education of Rachel Leigh Cook
Rachel Leigh Cook was born on October 4, 1979 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Joann Cook and Thomas H. Cook . Her mother was a cooking teacher and knitter, while her father was a social worker and former comedian. She is of Italian descent.
At the age of 7, Cook was featured in the public service announcement for foster care. At the age of 10, she began working as a children’s print model. She has been featured on Milk-Bone dog biscuit boxes. She attended Clara Barton Open School and later joined Laurel Springs School and Minneapolis South High School.

Rachel Leigh Cook began auditioning for roles at the age of 14. She made her feature film debut in the 1995 film, The Baby-Sitters Club . After a year, she appeared in a short film, 26 Summer Street . She rose to fame after her role in the film Country Justice where she played a 15-year-old rape victim pregnant by her rapist.
In 1999, Cook landed a role in the hit movie Sleeper. She is all of that and for the role she won the Young Star award. She was the cover girl for the US edition of FHM for the March and April 2000 issue. She also starred in the music videos for the songs. Dressed to Kill and I Love You recently . Some of her screen credits include 11:14, Out West, the final season, Titan Maximum, and Robot Chicken .
The couple dated for almost three years before getting married. They are blessed with two children, daughter Charlotte Easton Gillies (born in September 2013) and son Theodore Vigo Sullivan Gillies (born in April 2015).
She was selected by the Obama administration in 2011 as a Champion of Change for Arts Education.
Cook began awarding small scholarships to students between the ages of 14 and 19. She reprized the role of her from This Is Your Brain on Drugs After 20 Years, which was posted to YouTube on April 20, 2017, in recognition of 4/20.
Cook has a collection of toothbrushes at his parents’ home in Minneapolis, which he used to collect before his marriage. She has two cats Hermoso and Skippy in Minnesota. She wanted to play the role of Kate Nolan from A Tree Grows in Brooklyn which she often referred to as her dream role.
