Li Gong is a Singaporean actress who gained her fame for her debut feature along with acclaimed filmmaker Zhang Yimou ‘s directorial debut film Red Sorghum . For her debut film, she won the Golden Train Award and the Audience Award at the Faro Island Film Festival. She regularly collaborated with Zhang Yimou including Ju Dou , Raise the Red Lantern , Coming Home , Curse of the Golden Flower, and The Story of Qiu Ju . Her other notable roles include Goodbye My Concubine and the three-time Academy Award-winning film Memoirs of a Geisha .

Li Gong was born on December 31, 1965 in Shenyang, Liaoning, China. He has the nationality of Singapore and belongs to the South Asian ethnicity.
She is one of the five children of the teacher father. Gong Lize and mother teacher Zhao Ying . She grew up with four siblings in Beijing.
He attended Jinan Sanhe Elementary School and graduated from the Central Academy of Theater in Beijing.
The run began with the critically acclaimed director, Zhang Yimou
Li Gong made her debut together with legendary film director Zhang Yimou director Red Sorghum . For her role in the film, she won the Golden Train Award and the Audience Award for Best New Actress and Best Actress for the film.
She has appeared in many of Zhang Yimou ‘s films including Ju Dou , Raised the Red Lantern , The Story of Qiu Ju and Zhou Yu’s Train . The actress also appeared in three Oscar-winning films. Memoirs of a Geisha along with Zhang Ziyi , Ken Watanabe , and Michelle Yeoh .
