Biography of Lee DeWyze

Lee DeWyze is a singer-songwriter popularly known around the world as the winner of the ninth season of American Idol . He has given many hits after the competition which includes , Beautiful Day, Hallelujah, Slowly Falling, The Boxer and so on which ranked high on the Billboard charts. He was awarded the Teen Choice Awards for Male Reality Television on August 8, 2010. DeWyze is one of the artists who is involved in philanthropy and has contributed a lot to raise funds for a great cause.

Early life and education of Lee DeWyze

Lee DeWyze was born Leon James DeWyze to Kathleen and Leon DeWyze on April 2, 1986 , in Mount Prospect, Illinois. He grew up with his two older sisters, Shannon DeWyze and Sarah DeWyze, and a younger brother named Michael DeWyze. He is of Polish, Irish, Belgian, Danish, and English descent.

For education, he attended St. James Catholic Elementary School in Arlington Height, Illinois, and Prospect High School until his senior year, but was expelled because he used to get into too many fights. He later enrolled in Forest View Alternative School for his high school studies, but did not graduate. Later, he managed to obtain a GED.

DeWyze has four tattoos on his body. One is the lyrics to a classic Cat Stevens song that says ‘Lord my body has been a good friend but I won’t need it when I get to the end’, another is the silhouette of the Chicago flag. He has a tattoo of a tree on his right arm and on his left arm, there is an illustration of Shel Silverstein.

DeWyze is afraid of clowns and of heights. He plays many instruments including guitar, piano, and drums and loves to play scrabble as a hobby. As a pet lover, he owns an English Bulldog named Capone.
