South Korean actor Kim Hyun-joong is famous for being the main rapper of the South Korean boy band SS501. He is also a singer. He is also known for his dramas ‘Boys Over Flowers’ and ‘Playful Kiss’. He is very popular in Korea and is a style icon there.
Hyun-joong has appeared in nearly 20 video songs, all of which proved to be super hits. Her most popular singles include ‘The Reason I Live’, ‘Your Story’, ‘Beauty Beauty’, ‘Break Down’ and ‘Kiss Kiss’.
Hyun-joong won the ‘Best Artist in South Korea Award’ and ‘Best Asian Artist Award’ at the Asia Song Festival Awards 2012. In addition, he has also won various other awards; Youth Icon Awards, Model Awards, Style Awards, Best Couple Awards, etc.
Early age and education
Kim Hyun-joong was born on June 6, 1986 in Seoul, South Korea. He is of East Asian ethnicity and has Korean nationality. His family follows Christianity. He has an older brother.
In 2006, Hyun-joong graduated from Hanyang Technical High School. He later enrolled in Chungwoon University to study stage production management.
Hyun-joong joined Kongju Communication Arts (KCAU) in February 2012 to study applied music.

Kim Hyun-joong made his musical debut with the band SS501’s album ‘Warning’ in June 2005. Later, they promoted their first studio album ‘ST 01 Now’.
In 2007, the band decided to expand their music outside of Korea and chose Japan. They released their first Japanese single ‘Kokoro’. Soon after, they introduced the band SS501 to Japan through another single, ‘Distance.’
In 2009, Hyun-joong played one of the main characters Yoon Ji-hoo in the South Korean TV series ‘Flower Boys’ starring Lee Min-ho, Kim Bum and many others. She also won the ‘Korean Junior Star Award’.
From 2009 to 2010, the band released the singles, ‘All My Love’, ‘Rebirth’, ‘Solo Collection’ and ‘Destination’. Shortly after releasing four consecutive singles, her contract ended.
In 2010, it was officially stated that Hyun-joong had left DSP Media and joined KeyEast Entertainment Company. He was also invited to perform at the Guangzhou Asian Games as the representative of South Korea.
Hyun-joong played the lead role, Baek Seung-jo, in the 2010 South Korean romantic comedy TV series ‘Playful Kiss.’ On June 7 of the following year, he released his first solo mini-album, ‘Breakdown.’
In January 2012, Hyun-joong released his first Japanese solo single, ‘Kiss Kiss / Lucky Guy’. The most popular album of hers was ‘Unlimited’ , it consisted of famous songs like ‘Lucky Guy’, ‘Break Down’.
Hyun-joong’s third Japanese single, ‘Tonight,’ was released on June 5, 2013. Soon after, he released his album, ‘Round 3’ , which became an instant hit at the time.
In May 2015, Hyun-joong enlisted in the mandatory military service, where he was one of the best recruits and was quickly promoted to the position of team leader.
On February 11, 2017, Hyun-joong was officially discharged as a sergeant after serving his country for 21 months.
Personal life
Kim Hyun-joong is a Roman Catholic by religion. He likes soccer and plays as a striker for FC Men.
The Korean superstar is possibly currently single. However, she has dated many celebrities in the past. She was romantically involved with Choi, but the couple were unable to maintain their relationship and broke up.
The reason behind their split was Hyun-joong’s infidelity and aggressive behavior towards his ex-girlfriend Mrs. Choi. In 2014, she sued him for domestic violence, but after he apologized, she recanted the accusation.
After a year, Ms. Choi claimed that she was pregnant with his child, which sparked controversy again. In April, Ms. Choi sued Hyun-joong for 1.6 billion won in damages due to the emotional stress caused by the miscarriage of her first pregnancy.
Ms. Choi said that she has no intention of marrying him and that she will raise her son alone. But her lie about her previous miscarriage was revealed in June 2015, so Hyun-joong filed a lawsuit against her.
In September 2015, Ms. Choi had a baby, and after three months, a DNA test was performed. The result showed that the baby is Hyun-joong’s son.
Hyun-joong also dated South Korean actress and model Jung So Min. They even acted together in the drama ‘Playful Kiss’ in 2010. However, they couldn’t keep the relationship together.
Also, there was a rumor that she was dating the South Korean singer, Hwangbo, they worked together on the Korean TV variety show. ‘We married.’
However, they did not announce that they were dating. But, Kim Hyun-joong and Hwangbo were seen wearing a pair of matching rings, watches, and caps.
In September 2009, Hyun-joong was diagnosed with the H1N1 virus. He received immediate treatment for the infection in Japan.
