Kim Coates is a Canadian-American actor who has worked in American and Canadian films and television series. He is known for playing Alexander Tig Trager in an American crime drama television series. Sons of Anarchy aired on the FX channel.
Kim won a Half-Life Award from the Action on Film International Film Festival in 2009. He also won the Canadian Screen Awards for Best Performance in a Supporting Role as a nominee.

Kim is the son of Frederick J. Coates and Joyce Coates.
Kim attended the University of Saskatchewan, where he took a drama course as an elective and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1981. He acknowledged that he took dramatization by chance in college, and two years later, he knew he wanted to be an actor.

Kim played the role of Gang Member in the American television crime drama series Miami Vice in 1987. The following year, he appeared in a Canadian comedy film Royal Palace as Tony Dicarlo which was released on September 10, 1988.
Kim also appeared in the Canadian/American science fiction television series War of the Worlds as Scott the same year.
Kim appeared in the films, Dead Silence as Theodore ‘Ted’ Handy, for which he was nominated for a Gemini Award for Best Performance in a Featured Supporting Role. He even appeared in Poltergeist: Legacy as Steven Romero, for which he was nominated for a Gemini Award for Best Guest Actor.
In 2008, Kim appeared in Sons of Anarchy Alejandro ‘Tig’ Trager along with Katey Sagal, Charlie Hunnam , and others.

Kim Coates married his girlfriend Diana Coates in 1988 and they are still together. Kim and his wife Diana met at a high-profile celebrity party and started dating after a few months. The couple got married after being together for a few months.
