American lawyer, blogger, author, and pundit, Jeffrey Toobin, who has won numerous Emmy Awards for his contribution to journalism is best known as the legal analyst for CNN and The New Yorker . He also served as an associate attorney in the Department of Justice during the Iran–Contra affair . Toobin began writing during the 1990s and among his books, the most famous is the one based on the OJ Simpson Murder Case . The book was adapted as a series The People Versus OJ Simpson: American Crime Story that aired in 2016.
Early life and education of Jeffrey Toobin
Jeffrey Toobin was born on May 21, 1960 in New York, United States into a Jewish family. He is the son of Marlene Sanders, a former correspondent for ABC and CBS News, and Jerome Toobin, a news producer.
Jeffrey Toobin attended Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School, a private preparatory school in New York City. He then joined Harvard College for undergraduate studies, where he covered sports for The Harvard Crimson.
She graduated magna cum laude with a BA in US History and Literature from Havard. She also received a Truman scholarship. In 1986, he received magna cum laude with a JD from Harvard Law School and served as editor of the Harvard Law Review.
Jeffrey Tobin’s career
Jeffrey Toobin began freelancing for The New Republic when he was a law student. Shortly after graduating, he served as a law clerk to a federal judge and later as an associate attorney for independent attorney Lawrence Edward Walsh. He later served as an assistant US attorney in Brooklyn, but resigned after three years.
Toobin later wrote a book about his work at the Office of the Independent Counsel, but over Walsh’s objection, he went to court to assert his right to publish and won the case. In 1993 he joined The New Yorker and became a television legal analyst for ABC in 1996. He has provided broadcast legal analysis on many high-profile cases.
The couple is proud to have two children, a daughter and a son. She had an extramarital affair with lawyer Casey Greenfield with whom she had a son in 2009. Toobin and Greenfield were in a relationship for more than ten years. Despite the extramarital affair, Amy forgave her husband and the couple is still together.
In 2011, Toobin presented his views on the United States constitution in discussion with journalist Fareed Zakaria . He stated that he believes that the United States Constitution should be amended to eliminate inequities in the Electoral College and the United States Senate.
