Biography of James Purefoy

James Purefoy, an English actor, is best known for his role as Mark Antony on the HBO series. Rome . He is also recognized for his work on series like The Following, The Saint, The Philanthropist, and Solomon Kane. Purefoy is happily married to his long-time girlfriend, Jessica Adams, a documentary director and producer. The duo are proud parents of three children, a daughter and two sons. He also has a son, Joseph, from his previous relationship with actress Holly Arid. Purefoy is currently working on the Netflix series Altered Carbon as Laurens Bancroft.

Early life of James Purefoy

James Purefoy was born James Brian Mark Purefoy on June 3, 1964 in Taunton, Somerset. He is the eldest son of Anthony Chetwynd and Shirley (née Taylor) Purefoy . He is British by nationality and belongs to Caucasian ethnicity.

Purefoy attended Sherborne School and left the school with only one O level. He then joined night school where he gained 11 O levels more. Later, she went to Brooklands College in Weybridge and obtained an A level from there.

Later he enrolled in the Central School of Speech and Drama where he studied acting. He worked at the Yeovil District Hospital as a janitor before joining the acting academy.

James Purefoy’s career

James Purefoy began his career as a performing artist. He played Romeo in Romeo and Juliet in Leatherhead. He then acted in numerous dramas and projects, including Riverside Studios and Equus . In 1988, he joined the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and worked on The Tempest , Macbeth, King Lear and The Man Who Came to Dinner.

Purefoy has worked on numerous plays including Hamlet , Leeds , The Servant , Four Nights at Knaresborough , The Relapse , Flare Trail and others. He made his television debut in 1990 with Coastal in a lead role. The following year, he appeared in two television series, The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes and Blessing , working on one episode each.

The duo are the proud parents of three children, a daughter, Rose Purefoy (born 2012) and two sons, Ned Purefoy and Kit Purefoy (born 2017).

Before, James Purefoy was married to an actress. Holly Aird. They married in 1996 and gave birth to their first child, a son. Joseph Purefoy in 1997. After about six years of marriage, the couple divorced in 2002.

Purefoy is a big football fan and a supporter of Yeovil Town FC.
