James Murray was born James Stephen Murray on May 1, 1976 in Staten Island, New York, United States of America as James Stephen Murray.
He attended Monsignor Farrell High School, graduating in 1994. He then enrolled in Georgetown University, graduating with a BA in English in 1998.
Murray is openly gay. In 2016, his friend Sal Vulcano admitted to being gay on the talk show that cheered up Murray and also admitted that he is gay. But then Vulcan confessed that he was not gay and just wanted to motivate Murray to help him come out.
