Frederik Pleitgen is a German journalist and also a correspondent for CNN International. He was born in 1976 in Cologne. He is the proud son of Fritz Pleitgen, a German journalist and former head of the West German Broadcasting Corporation. Frederik studied American Studies at the University of Bonn and also at the Free University of Berlin. In addition, he also spent a year studying at the New York University School of Journalism and received a scholarship to the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy in the San Fernando Valley in 2004.
