Introduction
Born North Dakota February 22, 1955, David M. Axelrod is an American political analyst, as well as a political operative. He is best known as the chief strategist for Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns.
He grew up in the Stuyvesant Town area of New York City. He is from a liberal Jewish family. Her mother Myril Bennett was a journalist and her father Joseph Axelrod was a psychologist.
education and career
David attended Public School 40 which is located in Manhattan. He completed his graduation in 1972 from Stuyvesant High School in New York. Following that, he majored in Political Science at the University of Chicago.
After graduation, he was hired by the Chicago Tribune. David became a political columnist and town hall bureau chief for the newspaper. He worked for eight years covering local, state and national politics.
He became the youngest political writer in the year 1981. Later, in the year 1984, he joined US Senator Paul Simon’s campaign as communications director.
In January 1990, he was hired by the Oregon Governor’s campaign for Neil Goldschmidt to be the media consultant. But he said he would not seek re-election. In 2004, he worked for John Edward’s presidential campaign.
In 2006, David consulted for various campaigns including Deval Patrick in the Massachusetts gubernatorial election and Eliot Spitzer in the New York gubernatorial election.
On November 20 , 2008, David was declared a Senior Advisor to the Obama administration. His role was to communicate the presidents message in coordination with President Obama and develop policy.
At the University of Chicago, David established a bipartisan Political Institute in January 2013. In the same year on February 19 , he joined MSNBC and NBC News as a senior political analyst. He held the position until September 2015, then moved to CNN.
David is the founder of ASK Public Strategies, as well as AKPD Message and Media. In September 2015, he joined The Ax-Files as a senior political commentator.
Personal life
He married Susan Landau in 1979. His wife is a co-founder of Citizens United for Research of Epilepsy. He met his wife at the University of Chicago, where she was a business student. The couple have three children named Lauren, Michael, and Ethan.
