Synopsis
Choi Seung-Hyun, better known by his stage name, TOP is a South Korean rapper and actor, best recognized as one of the five members of the K-pop boy band ‘Big Bang’, which also includes his rapper friend G-Dragon and singers Daesung, Taeyang and Seungri.
Early age and education
TOP was born as Choi Seung-Hyun was born on November 4, 1987 in Seoul, South Korea. He belongs to the White Korean ethnicity and has Korean nationality. He has an older sister, Choi Hye-Yoon.
A very shy and sensitive child, Seung-Hyun was so miserable working with his peers that he would often skip school and come home. He went to the Seoul School of the Arts, where he completed his major in Musical. Later, he attended Dangook University and earned a bachelor’s degree in theater and film in 2008.
When he was in the fourth or fifth grade, Seung-Hyun heard the American rapper, The Notorious BIG who inspired him to continue rapping. He danced and rapped with his neighborhood friend, Kwon Ji-Yong, who later became his bandmate G-Dragon.

From adolescence, Choi Seung-Hyung took the name of TEMPO and became the famous underground rapper when he released his song. Wild Buck and also won a rap battle.
After that, Seung-Hyung started dancing and rapping with Kwon Ji-Yong and also became a trainee at YG Entertainment. YG’s senior artist Se7en gave it the name TOP
Seung-Hyung’s hard work led to him being qualified for the boy band. Big Bang, however, his fatness became the reason for not selecting him.

Choi Seung-Hyun is currently single. Previously, he had an affair with Korean model Shin Mina whom he first met through his sister and eventually started dating. The duo were seen on secret dates despite their busy schedule.
There is also a rumor going around that Seung-Hyun has been dating Krystal Jung , a member of the k-pop group f(x), for two years. But both kept quiet about the rumor and did not say anything about their relationship.
During his two years of mandatory military service in 2017, Seung-Hyun was prosecuted by the police for smoking marijuana with Han Seo Hee .
In addition, Seung-Hyun was also hospitalized after overdosing on anxiolytics. After his recovery, he attended his first court hearing where he pleaded guilty to smoking marijuana in two out of four cases.
