Carre Otis was born on September 28, 1968, in San Francisco, California, United States. She is the daughter of Morrow Otis and Carol Otis. She spent most of her early days growing up in Maris Country, California with her older sister, Chrisse. Otis and younger brother Jordan Otis .
Otis studied at the Maris Academy in San Rafael. He then went on to study at the John Woolman School, in Nevada City, California.

Carre Otis began her modeling career at the age of 16 by signing a contract with Elite Model Management . She gained attention when she appeared on the cover of French Elle in April 1986. Her popularity reached further heights after appearing on the covers of the US and Foreign editions of Vogue, Harper ‘s Bazaar , Cosmopolitan , Allure , Maria Clare and Mirabelle .
Otis also appeared in the 1990 and 2000 issues of the prestigious Playboy magazine. For a while, she took a short break from her modeling career to transition into the world of entertainment.
