Bill Ritter (born February 26, 1950) is an American journalist and television news anchor. He was named co-anchor of WABC-TV New York’s Eyewitness News at 6 p.m. in February 2001. Ritter, who has been the co-anchor of the 11 p.m. news since September 1999, is also a reporter for ABC News 20/20. Bill Ritter joined ’20/20′ as a reporter in November 1997. He joined ABC News in 1993. He has hosted ‘Good Morning America/Sunday’ and a reporter for ‘Great Morning America’.

Ritter began his career in print journalism in 1972. He served as a correspondent, then commercial editorial manager for the San Diego County edition of the Los Angeles Times from 1984 to 1987. In 1984 he won the Los Angeles Times Editorial Award for revealing $200 million extortion from agents in San Diego. He also worked as a correspondent and editor of the San Diego Business Journal from 1980 to 1984. Ritter has covered a lot of critical news for a variety of ABC News shows, including the murder of 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky in Brooklyn, mob robberies and claimed rape of young ladies in Manhattan’s Central Park after the Puerto Rico Day Parade, shootings at Columbine High School in Colorado, the disappearance of Princess Diana, the crash of TWA Flight 800, OJ Simpson’s criminal and common trials, and the outcome of the Oklahoma City bombing.

Speaking of his personal life, he married Kathleen Friery in 2008, who won an award for Television Producer. The couple is honored to have three children whose information has not been revealed. Ritter was retired from San Diego State University in 1972 before accepting a certificate. At the proposal of her little girl, 40 years after the fact, she decided to finish her school education, obtaining a degree from The New School on May 20, 2016. While working as a company, then investigative journalist for KNSD-TV in San Diego from 1987 to 1990, Ritter, known for his crime exams and won four Emmy Awards. In 1989 he was rewarded for his investigative reporting by revealing a local stock market scam and, in addition, for his ‘journalistic enterprise in general’. In 1987 he won in both categories once again, this time for his reports revealing an embarrassment to his welfare that included the executioner whales and their mentors at San Diego’s California Sea World. He was also named NBC Affiliate Reporter of the Year in 1987 and 1988.

Ritter also served as an executive of Crash, Inc., a non-profit drug instruction association and counteractive action in San Diego, from 1980 to 1990, and served on the advisory board of San Diego State University’s School of Business in 1984 and 1985.
