William James O’Reilly Jr., popular as Bill O’Reilly, began his career as a reporter for local television stations in the US, later working for CBS News and ABC News. He anchored the tabloid television show, Inside Edition from 1989 to 1995.
O’Reilly joined Fox News Channel in 1996 and hosted The O’Reilly Factor until 2017. The O’Reilly Factor was the highest-rated news program on cable for 16 years. He was described as “the biggest star in the 20-year history of Fox News” by media analyst Howard Kurtz at the time of his departure.
