Emmy Award-winning journalist Bill Hammer has established himself as one of the prominent faces in the media arena. The well-known media personality currently serves as a reporter and host for Fox News Channel, based in New York City. He also anchors America’s Newsroom with Martha MacCallum from 9 am to 11 am ET. Prior to Fox News, the versatile journalist also previously worked at CNN from 1995-2005 as a reporter and anchor.
Early life and education of Bill Hammer
Bill Hemmer was born on November 14, 1964 in Cincinnati Ohio, United States, the son of a mattress executive. William R. Hemmer and Georganne M. Knittle, a former high school teacher. He is the second son of his parents’ five children.
Hemmer attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic Parochial School. He later graduated from Elder High School in Cincinnati. Bill along with his friend started a radio show and played fifteen minutes of music before school started.
Hemmer earned his bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. At the same time, he also joined Delta Tau Delta and studied in Europe at the Dolibois European Center at the University of Miami, in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg.
Hemmer belongs to the United States nationality and with respect to his ethnic origin, he is white. He is Roman Catholic.
Bill Hemmer’s professional career
Bill Hemmer began by interning for radio stations such as WMUB-FM, WOXY-FM and also interned at the Cincinnati NBC affiliate. He also worked as a sports producer at WLWT-TV and later as a weekend sports anchor at CBS affiliate WCPO-TV.
Hemmer during his nearly year-long tour of China, Vietnam, Nepal, India, Egypt, Israel, and Eastern Europe. He also wrote dispatches, prepared tapes and photos which were assembled into several pieces known collectively as ‘Bill’s Excellent Adventure’.
Some time after his return from hiatus, Hemmer landed a position at CNN International Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. Hemmer spent more than a decade at CNN hosting various shows such as CNN American Tomorrow Tonight , CNN Early Edition, CNN Morning News, and CNN Live Today .
It was reported that the couple started a love affair in the year 2005. However, the two could not last long and broke up after around 8 years of dating. But the exact reason behind their breakup has yet to be revealed.
