Vitarelli is the daughter of Elizabeth Ann Vitarelli of Palm Beach, Florida, and Albert J. Vitarelli of Manhattan. Her father retired as president of Manhattan Ford / Lincoln-Mercury / Jaguar, where her mother is director of nursing at Abbey Delray, a health care facility in Delray Beach, Florida. She is the stepdaughter of Sharon Vitarelli.

Alicia Vitarelli married Matthew Pantaleno on April 20, 2007. They hosted their wedding ceremony at Our Lady of the Angels Church in Brooklyn. Her husband is a WNBC Chief Photographer and also a former Time Warner Photojournalist and former News 12 New Jersey Chief Photographer.
On Monday, August 19, 2013, she and her husband announced on air that they were expecting their first child, and Vitarelli gave birth to their son in January 2014.
