Australian actress and rapper, Abbie Cornish has been a part of the entertainment world since 1997. She made her acting debut in Wildside (1997) for which she won the ‘ Australian Film Institute: Young Actor Award’ . She is best known for playing the role of Bess Throckmorton in the British biographical drama film, Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007). Abbie Cornish was born on August 7, 1982 in Lochinvar, New South Wales, Australia. Her birth sign is Leo, which defines her personality as energetic, optimistic, loyal, with a big heart and lots of love to give to the world. She is the second of five children born to Shelley Cornish and Barry Cornish .
Cornish was raised on a 70-hectare farm before moving to Newcastle, New South Wales. Her sister, Isabelle Cornish is also an actress.

Abbie Cornish was just 13 years old when she began her modeling career after making it to the final of a Dolly Magazine competition. After two years, she started acting, she first appeared in television series, Wild Side (1997) as Simone Summers. The series helped her gain public attention, she even won the Australian Film Institute: Young Actor’s Award. In 2000, she debuted in the movie, The Mask of the Monkey where she played the role of Mickey Norris.
Cornish starred in the award-winning short film, Anything Goes in 2004. She was highly regarded for her role in the film, winning numerous awards including the Australian Film Institute Award, FCCA Awards and IF Awards. She also won the Miami International Film Festival in 2005 for her role in Cartwheel .
Cornish is vegan and was voted ‘Australia’s Sexiest Vegetarian of 2008’. In 2006, she became an ambassador for the Australian animal rights group, Voiceless. In 2011, she was ranked 33rd on Ask Men’s 99 ‘Most Desirable Women’ and 89 on the ‘100 Sexiest Women in the World’.
