Billy Drago

Born in Hugoton (Kansas), William Eugene Burrows – his real name – had gypsy ancestry on his mother’s side, Serbian, while his father belonged to the Apache ethnic group. In addition to working as a DJ at various stations, he was a stuntman at a western theme park in Dodge City. 

After embarking on a theatrical tour that would take him to New York and several cities in Canada, he began to call himself Billy Drago , and decided to dedicate himself to acting. He began with brief appearances in the telefilm No Other Love , and the feature film Walking on the Wind , where he played an Indian explorer. He was given his first major role by Clint Eastwood , who directed him in The Pale Rider , where he gave life to Mather, a sinister bailiff in the service of a tycoon who imposes his will on the members of a small mining community (at least until the scene comes on). From that moment on, he was raffled for his products such as Invasion USA , Delta Force 2 and El héroe y el terror , where he faced the tough Chuck Norris . Brian De Palma gave him his most memorable role, Frank Nitty, a fearsome hitman who annihilated two of the protagonists of Eliot Ness’s The Untouchables . 

Billy Drago was married to the actress Silvana Gallardo ( Windwalker ), until her death on January 2, 2012. Their son, Darren E. Burrows , has followed in his footsteps in the acting field, achieving some popularity as the movie buff Ed , from Alaska Ph.D.

At the end of his career, he gave life to the demon Barbas, in the Charmed series , and to the cannibal armed with a pick Papa Jupiter in The Hills Have Eyes . He continued to be active until death prevented him from playing several roles that he had committed to.
