Multifaceted to say enough. Her great voice propelled him to musical stardom when she was barely in her early twenties, and the world of television and film then threw her arms wide at him. Different Emmy, Grammy or Golden Globe awards emphatically endorse her extensive resume. Even theatrical shows have not been able to resist having her as the headliner. With all of you, Bette Midler.

Bette Midler was born on December 1, 1945 in Hawaii (United States). Her parents, of Jewish beliefs, decided to name her in honor of the great actress they admired, Bette Davis . After graduating high school, she decided to study acting at the University of Hawaii, but her path in this career would be interrupted. She preferred to make a leap from academic theory to the pure professional practice of acting, and for this she moved to New York.

One summer of 1945 he would see how he disembarked in his new destination, and there he would begin to take his first steps in plays. His presentation on Broadway would not be long in coming, and this was thanks to his role as Tzeitel in the production “Fiddler on the Roof.” A great success that led to a national tour that served to shape his popularity.

Curiously, his fame began in another sector. She was hired in the early 70’s to sing at the Continental Baths club, along with Barry Manilow. She provided the perfect launching pad, and in 1972 she recorded her first album “The Divine Miss M”. What’s more, such was the impact of this album that she won a Grammy Award for best new artist. Her career in the world of music was just beginning, since she would end up recording up to 13 solo albums. And that first Grammy would be multiplied by four.

After appearing in various television specials such as “The Bette Midler Show” (1976), he would win an Emmy thanks to “Bette Midler: Ol’Red Hair is back” (1977). And since good news never comes alone, in 1979 she would achieve her first role as a leading actress in a great film. The Rose , a film in which she exceptionally played Janis Joplin, led her to win a Golden Globe for Best Actress, and to be nominated in the same category at the Oscars and at the BAFTAs.

A year later , Divine Madness (1980) would come, where she played herself, and for which she was once again nominated for a Golden Globe. This nomination for this same award would be repeated in future years, with A Crazy Man Loose in Hollywood ( 1986) and Incredible Luck (1987).

Without a doubt, that end of the 80’s and almost the entire decade of the 90’s were a storm of productions for Bette. She was leaving a film with a good box office to get into another of equal or greater depth. She starred opposite Danny DeVito in the comedy Please Kill My Wife! (1986); she was the wife of Woody Allen in Scenes in a Gallery (1991); and she repeated the statuette twice at the Golden Globes with the musical tape Yesterday, Today and Always (1991) and with the telefilm Gipsy (1993).

His collaborations in parallel with television followed one another without ceasing. He was even able to salvage a second Emmy from him in 1992, after a starring appearance on Johnny Carson’s “The Tonight Show.” Her third award at these awards would come in 1997, thanks to her performance in “Bette Midler in Concert: Diva Las Vegas.” Three years would pass until, in 2000, she was again nominated for different awards for starring in the sitcom Bette .

In those prolific nineties, Disney called her up for The Return of the Witches (1993), where she put herself in the shoes of one of the three sister witches who were looking for immortality by any means; and she later co-starred with Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton in the sophisticated, feminine comedy The First Wives Club (1996).

The beginning of the new century would be a complete challenge for her. Following the traces of the successes achieved in previous years was almost a pipe dream, and she decided to start an acting record much more adapted to comedies. Renew, die or adapt. Good proof of this is the romantic What do women think? (2000), the hilarious nothing Ella es única (2000), the intriguing and robotic dramedy of The Perfect Women (2004), the beautiful romance that lives in When she found me (2007) or the trivial and irrelevant comedy The Women (2008).

Some of the most recent titles that he has starred in are Grandparents to Power (2012), where he shares the lead equally with Billy Crystal ; or the music documentary Twenty Feet from Stardom (2012).

To understand what Mrs. Midler represents, one only needs to take a look at the popular show “Bette Midler: The Showgirl Must Go On”, in which she participated from 2008 to 2010 at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. Involved in different charitable tasks and helping the community, Bette married Martin von Haselberg in 1984, and two years later they saw the birth of what would be the only daughter of the couple.
