Asia, the largest and most populous country on earth, is home to several well-known actors. The countries with the largest economies in the world are on this continent. There are many great Asian actors and actresses but most of them go unrecognized. However, some of them have managed to embark on paths that bring them recognition. The list below highlights some of these amazing actors.

1. Jackie Chan

Datuk Chan Kong-sang (known professionally as Jackie Chan) is a Hong Kong actor, martial artist, producer, director and singer. He is known for his interesting characters in films that involve a lot of fighting and acrobatics. After training in Wushu, Hapkido and Kung Fu, Chan has acted in more than 150 films since the beginning of his career. He started his career as a child actor at the age of 5 in small roles. He played several roles in films, all of which had stunts, except for an adult film All in the Family where he appeared nude. In 1999, Chan released a film he directed before leaving entertainment company Golden Harvest Who Am I? He later appeared in two Hollywood films, The Tuxedo(2002) and The Medallion (2003). Chan later founded his own production company, JCE Movies Limited. He has acted in several other films which have earned him various nominations and awards. In 2018, Chan’s films grossed more than $5 billion worldwide.

2. Jet Li

Li Lianjie, whose stage name is Jet Li, was born on April 26, 1963. He is an actor, martial artist and film producer. In 1982, Li debuted in his acting career with the film Shaolin Temple , for which he received awards. He then starred in several other Chinese films, including Legendary Fist (1994) and Zhang Yimou Hero (2002). Li starred in his first Hollywood film , Romeo Must Die (2000). He then starred in several international films including The Forbidden Kingdom (2008) where he co-starred with Jackie Chan. In 2010, Jet Li acted in the film The Expendablesand reprized his role in the sequel films. He is an award-winning actor and martial artist.

3. Ken Jeong

Kendrick Kang-Joh Jeong is an actor, doctor, and comedian. Jeong started as a comedian after winning a competition. He made his acting debut with his stand-up comedy, which led to his appearances on various television shows including The Office , Entourage and Curb Your Enthusiasm . His acting breakthrough came with his film debut Knocked Up , where he portrayed Dr. cuni. Since then, he has acted in several other films, including The Hangover Me , The Hangover Part II , and The Hangover Part III , which earned him several awards including the MTV Movie Award for “Best Villain.”

4. Constance Wu

Constance Wu is an American actress who holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the State University of New York. She made her on-screen debut in 2006’s Stephanie Daley . She later got supporting roles in films like The Architect and Year of the Fish . She also appeared in several episodes of Law & Order . Constance won the lead role in a comedy series, Off the Boat in 2014, earning praise for her role in the film. Wu starred in Crazy Rich Asians (2018), an all-Asian cast film that made the highest-grossing film in a decade. She was nominated for several awards for her role in the film.

5.John Cho

John Cho is a Korean-American actor known for his great acting skills. He began his acting career in 1996 when he played a role in The Taste of Kina Coffee . He rose to fame playing a small role in American Pie (1999). He later starred in the film’s sequels, where he got a bigger role and a name. Cho starred with Harold and Kumar Go to the White Castle (2004) and received praise for his performance. He reprized his role in the 2008 and 2011 episodes of the film, all of which were successful. He has acted in several other television shows and films, including Star Trek and the 2018 film Quest .

6. Donnie Yen

Donnie Yen Ji-Dan is an actor, film producer, director, choreographer and martial artist. He is one of the top stars from Hong Kong. He began his acting career in 1984 when he starred in the film Drunk Tai Chi . His breakthrough came in 1992 when he landed the role of General Naplan in Once Upon a Time in China . He acted in several films and television series, including Iron Monkey (1993) and Fist of Rage (1995). He made his directorial debut in 1997 with The Legend of the Wolf . He has appeared in Hollywood films Highlander: Endgame and Blade II . He starred in the popular film Ip Manin 2008 and starred in all of the sequels. He has received several awards for his versatility as an actor. It seems every movie that yen touches turns to gold.

7. Pat Morita

10. Awkwafina

Nora Lum, known by the stage name Awkwafina, is an actress and rapper. Awkwafina appeared in a few episodes of the television series Girls Code in 2014. In 2016, Awkwafina had a role in the film Neighbors: Sorority Rising , which was her debut film. She also played a speaking role in an animated film Storks . She co-starred in the 2018 film Ocean 8 and co-starred in Crazy Rich Asians where she portrayed Goh Peik Lin, best friend of Constance Wu (Rachel Chu).
