The musician, who found success at a very young age and became a prestigious author of soundtracks, passed away at his home on August 30, 2012, at the age of 48.
Bernardo Silvano Bonezzi was born in Madrid on July 6, 1964. Around 1980 he became famous in Spain thanks to the musical theme “Groenlandia”, which he performed with his group Los Zombies. Bonezzi was only 15 years old and was beginning to stand out. At that time he met some peculiar guys, standard-bearers of the so-called “movida madrileña”, some Pedro Almodóvar and Fabio McNamara and with them he jumped to the fore with other musical themes of the moment. However, his career in front of the public was frugal as he would soon become a composer of soundtracks.
It was Pedro Almodóvar who hired the 17-year-old Bonezzi to compose the music for Laberinto de pasiones . After her came many other collaborations with the filmmaker from La Mancha, up to a total of six films. Among his soundtracks are those of Matador and Mujeres al verge de un ataque de nervios , two of the first hits by the man from La Mancha.
Over the years he was opening the range of his style to other films. In 1991 he stood out with the music for the successful series Farmacia de guardia , and from that moment his compositions entered through the front door in films of a certain quality and well received by the public, such as Todo por la pasta (1991), by Enrique Urbizu , All men are equal (1994), Mouth to mouth (1995) or the behind-the-scenes debut of Icíar Bollaín , Hello, are you alone? But without a doubt, the peak of her professional career took place with Agustín Díaz Yanes and his splendid thrillerNobody Will Talk About Us When We Have Died (1995). The film won 8 Goya Awards and one of them was for the score composed by Bernardo Bonezzi.
Bonezzi’s career continued to go from strength to strength, although it is true that many of the films for which he composed were not exactly masterpieces.
