1. Tomic’s parents left Yugoslavia a few years before he was born.
2. In 1996, when Bernard was only 3 years old, his family moved to Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
3. He supports a local professional rugby team called the Gold Coast Titans and a football team called the Brisbane Lions .
4. When Tomic started competing as a junior, he stated that he would be the next tennis player in the world claiming to become the youngest Davis Cup player from Australia and to win all Grand Slam tournaments.
5. He won the US Open Junior tournament in 2009. In the final, Bernard managed to beat Chase Buchanan from the USA.
6. Bernard became a tennis pro at the age of 15.
7. Tomic won his first ATP title in the 2013 Hopman Cup by defeating Kevin Anderson in three sets in the final.
8. Bernard played for Australia at the 2012 London Olympics. He played Kei Nishikori in the first match of the tournament and lost in straight sets.
