Biography and Lifestyle of Bendir Man
Bayrem Kilani, (Arabic : بيرم كيلاني ), is a Tunisian artist and committed singer. Passionate about music and art, Bendir Man learned to play guitar, lute and computer-assisted music. Known for his creativity and his determination, the artist has always set the bar too high and has set several goals and dreams to achieve.
Bayrem Kilani has always shown ambition and never ceased to surprise his friends with his original and extraordinary work. The Tunisian singer and producer started writing for TV documentary credits. Settled in France, he continued his studies abroad and took advantage of this opportunity to start his professional career as an artist, singer and producer. And so he began to professionalize his passion and talent for music and song.
Bayrem Kilani studied at the jazz school in Strasbourg where he began to write, produce and launch his songs on the net.
Despite censorship, his political songs have been listened to by young people of his generation, mainly in Tunisia.
Banned from the stages and the media in Tunisia, Bendir Man has always expressed himself freely and has long criticized the political system and dictator of his country of origin.
Not having the right to give a single concert on Tunisian territory has never slowed down the creativity and determination of this artist. Bayrem Kilani performed in France and Montreal and never stopped sharing his art with his funs, his entourage and the people he knows.
It’s in the song that I found the right way to express my revolt. I couldn’t talk about birds and life in pink while the guys in my neighborhood were living in shit or while others were risking their lives to seek refuge in Italy…” he declared
After the 2011 revolution and since the departure of Ben Ali (former President of the Tunisian Republic), Bendir Man has given about twenty concerts in Tunisia.
Currently, he continues to evolve, innovate and perform and each concert represents for him and for the artists of his generation a new opportunity to interact and shine.

Career
Appreciated by his sense of humor and his political songs, Bendir Man recorded a duet with Si Lemhaf and the Algerian singer Baaziz for a TV show. Abroad, Bayrem Kilani participates in well-known festivals such as (the re-opening of the Louvre, the Transmusicales of Rennes, the Printemps de Bourges, the Francopholies of La Rochelle).
Very committed before the Tunisian revolution with his hit, “El Système”, and very angry when he confronted Bahri Jelassi in the program “Klem Enness” on Al Hiwar Ettounsi, Bendir Man recently changed his musical style and oriented himself towards social subjects and the problems of his generation.
“You cannot continually sing about the revolution,” he explained.
“Before, I was a hooligan, now I’ve calmed down”, explains Bendir Man to justify his change of musical style.

Under the former Ben Ali regime, concert programmers and TV hosts who wanted to hire him were threatened by the police.
Anyone who listened to his songs had been arrested.
At the time, Bayrem Kilani ‘s house was under surveillance.
Even his phone line and those of his relatives were tapped.
Not to mention the many times the police beat him up and threw him in jail.
Bendir Man was questioned about the famous case of Marwen, (the young man sentenced to one year in prison for homosexual practices), the artist insisted that everyone is free to do what they want with their body. Bayrem Kilani was open-minded and always encouraged freedom of expression.
