Ben Howard is an English singer, songwriter and composer. As a teenager he moved to Totnes, Devon, where he spent much of his life. Ben Howard’s parents were musically inclined and introduced him to various forms of music from an early age. They let him listen to their favorite records by various artists including Bob Dylan, John Martyn and Nina Simone. He started singing since he was a very young boy, around 8 years old, and started performing his own songs when he was just 11 years old. After graduating from high school, he studied journalism at Falmouth University. In 2009, at the age of 21, he decided to become a full-time musician, recording and releasing music. He started from a small spot of singing up to two or three people in local pubs,

After a couple of sold out shows and building a solid reputation playing multiple gigs across the UK, Ben Howards finally signed to his first record label. Iceland Records, who are known to be involved with several other British artists. His first album sold over 1 million copies and even received a Mercury Music Prize nomination, although he didn’t win the award. His album was a catalyst for him, winning two Brit Awards in 2013 for British Breakthrough and British Solo Male Artist. Ben performed on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival on Saturday 29 June 2013. In 2017 he was an active member of the band A Blaze of Feather, which also featured members India Bourne, Mickey Smith, Nat Wason, Rich Thomas and Kyle Keegan. Ben has also performed with other top artists including Willy Mason. He plays multiple instruments but has focused on his guitar.

He is friends with Ed Sheeran, but people have considered him an alternative to Ed. They both play guitars and sometimes sing similar songs, but Ed is the artist who can be found on a global scale from every radio station to stadiums to gigs on Game of Thrones . Ben doesn’t like fame and doesn’t want everything that comes with being a celebrity, but somehow he’s come second best to Ed Sheeran. People call him “Anti-Ed Sheeran”.
2. He met his manager Owain in Cornwall when they were at Falmouth University. They met on the beach and surfed together and then Owain attended one of his gigs at a pub and immediately liked him. They started working together and Owain handled so many things including his PR and built him through the surfing world. Owain played for 2 to 3 people and sang for up to 15,000 people. His manager eventually received an award for all his hard work.
3. Ben Howard released his first extended play (EP) Playing in the Dark in 2008.
4. While Ben was younger, he had a keen interest in music and learned to play the guitar so he could put words together and sing along to the tunes. In addition to guitar, he also learned drums and double bass.
