- Barry Pepper grew up with his 2 older brothers. On several occasions, his brother Doug has worked on film sets as his assistant.
- After he turned 5 years old, his family members decided to sail around the South Pacific Islands in a homemade ship for around 5 years. The family traveled to places like Fiji, Tahiti and New Zealand.
- Since there weren’t enough entertainment options, members created and implemented sketches and plays for each other while the family traveled. This was one of the reasons why Barry Pepper wanted to pursue an acting career.
- After fulfilling their travel fantasies, the family returned to Canada and opened a shop on Denman Island, in the Comox Valley regional unit of British Columbia, Canada.
