Biography
On August 4, 1961, Barack Hussein Obama II was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. To date, he is the first US President born outside of the 48 contiguous states. His mother, Ann Dunham, was of Welsh, Scottish, English, German, and Swiss ancestry. At the University of Hawaii Manio in 1960, where he had received a scholarship, Ann met Barack Obama Sr. in a Russian language class. Kenyan-born Barack Sr. was married at the time. In 1961, Barack and Ann got hitched. Six months after Barack Sr., his son was born.
After Barack Sr. and Ann were divorced in 1964, he moved back to Kenya and wed a third time there. Only after returning to Kenya did Barack Sr. pay a visit to Barack Jr. When Barack Jr. was 9 years old in 1971, he traveled to Hawaii to see him. Tragically, a vehicle accident over Christmas in 1982 claimed the life of Barack Obama Sr. At the time, Barack Jr. was 21 years old.
Ann wed Lolo Soetoro, an Indonesian, in March 1965. Lolo went back to Indonesia after his application for a visa extension was ruled down. In 1967, Ann and Barack Jr. joined him there. Up to 1971, Barack resided in Indonesia before returning to Honolulu to live with his mother’s parents. He graduated from this high school in 1979 after attending. In 1980, Ann and Lolo remained wed. Unfortunately passed away in 1995 from cancer.
Barack’s mother and father both gave him a number of half-siblings. Barack traveled to Los Angeles in 1979 after finishing high school to enroll at Occidental College on a full scholarship.

Obama continued his campaign for the Illinois Senate seat after the convention. Jack Ryan, a wealthy former investment banker who won the Republican primary, was to be his opponent in the general election.
