Biography
Olubankole Wellington popularly known as Banky W was born in the United States on 27 March 1981 to Mr. and Mrs. George Bankole Wellington.
At the age of Banky W and his family relocated to Nigeria and he had both his primary and secondary education. After his secondary education, he proceeded to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York where he had his tertiary education on scholarship.
He began his musical career in his church choir long before he relocated to New York.

Career
Banky W began his musical career at a younger age in his church choir. While studying in New York, he established his first record label Empire Mate Entertainment (E.M.E) in 2002. He did not give up even though the label was not moving well at then rather he started working at GlobalSpec.
Back in the Building, his first studio album, was released in 2005.
However, his career kicked off when he relocated to Nigeria after his tertiary education. He moved to Nigeria from the US in 2009, where he launched his record company in Lagos by bringing on Wizkid, Shaydee, Niyola, and Skales as musicians.
Ebute Metta served as his debut single. He composed “0809ja for life,” the first Etisalat Nigeria theme song.
At a concert dubbed the “Grand Love Concert” at the Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island, Lagos, in 2013, Wellington debuted his new album “R&BW.” It included performances by Iyanya and Waje. “Lowkey” and “Yes/No,” are the album’s first two singles.
