Avicii released his debut album, True . It consisted of the international hit, Wake Me Up which has over 1.5 billion (as of 2018) views on YouTube. It won its first ‘Best Electronic’ award at the MTV EMA’s and American Music Award.

In January 2016, Coca-Cola teamed up with Avicii for a global campaign anthem ‘Taste the Feeling’ with Conrad Sewell . He also teamed up with Coldplay to co-produce the band’s single Anthem of the Weekend . On March 19, 2016, he performed live at Ultra Music Festival and debuted his new IDs. At the end of March, he announced on Facebook that he would be retiring from live performances and touring in 2016. The reason for his withdrawal was his poor health condition.

Avicii announced the release of the documentary, Avicii: True Stories in September 2017. The documentary features the reason for his retirement from touring along with interviews from his co-workers, David Guetta , Tiësto , Wyclef Jean , Nile Rodgers and Chris Martin. .

Avicii was one of the richest DJs in the world. The estimated net worth of him was $85 million. He earned $500k per gig and was regularly earning between $15 and $20 million per year. Between June 2014 and June 2015, he earned over $30 million from concerts and albums.

In 2016, Inc. magazine listed Avicii as the 6th fastest growing company in Europe, with revenue of €7.7 million in 2014. He bought a house in the Hollywood Hills in 2013 worth around €15, 5 million dollars. Avicii earned approximately $140 million during his career.

Avicii’s personal life

Avicii was quite secretive about his private life. During his life, he was never linked to anyone. However, after his sudden death on April 20, 2018, his ex-girlfriend Emily Goldberg posted a heartbreaking message about him.

According to some online sources, the duo first met in 2012 and dated for almost two years.

Avicii was active in philanthropy. She collaborated with her manager and executive producer Ash Pournouri to start a campaign, House for Hunger. She has supported a thousand children through her campaign. In an interview she said:

You have to return something. I’m very lucky to be in the position where I can actually do that. I feel lucky every day when I wake up and I can do what I love and earn a living.

He also supported the social cost related to human trafficking and gang violence.

Avicii was hospitalized for 11 days in January 2012 due to acute pancreatitis caused by excessive alcohol consumption. After two years, he was again hospitalized and underwent surgery to remove his appendix and gallbladder.

By 2016, Avicii’s health worsened and he subsequently withdrew from performing live. In April 2018, he was found dead near Muscat, Oman, while on vacation. He took his last breath from him at the age of 28, but no official reason regarding his death has been revealed. However, Omani police stated that there is no ‘criminal suspicion’ or evidence of misconduct found in Avicii’s death.
