Audrey Hepburn’s last husband
With him Audrey Hepburn found happiness, until the death of the star, although he had previously been married to Merle Oberon. As an actor, Robert Wolders stood out above all with television series such as “Laredo” or “Bewitched”. The interpreter has passed away at the age of 81, on July 12, 2018.
Born in the Netherlands on September 28, 1936, Robert Wolders studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. He made his television debut in Flipper , after which he took part in numerous series of the sixties, such as El agente de CIPOL, Embrujada or La chica de la tele . He is remembered – especially in the United States – as Erik Hunter, in the series set in the old west, Laredo . His attractive appearance and foreign accent made a good impression on the viewers.
In cinema, he appeared in Tobruk , alongside Rock Hudson , and stood out in Interval , a romantic drama from 1973, where he played a man who seduces the protagonist, Merle Oberon , a woman who escaped to Mexico fleeing from her past. Love arose between them, and they married, after which Wolders temporarily abandoned acting, until he became a widower in 1979. He then joined Audrey Hepburn , with whom he got along much better than his previous partners. He was with her when he died in 1993.
