Atiku pays for waivers to visit the US – Bashir El-Rufai

Bashir El-Rufai, son of the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, Bashir has accused the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, of buying waivers to gain access to the United States.  He made the allegation on Friday while reacting to Atiku’s campaign trip to the US on Thursday.

Bashir stated that the PDP’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has corruption cases in United States courts and the only way he can gain access without being spotted is to buy his way through. He wrote, “He gets a waiver each time. He has corruption cases in U.S courts. But as usual, money can buy access even in saner climes such as the U.S, Sarki na.”

Recall that Abubakar left Nigeria to campaign in the United States of America. The former Vice President touched down at the John F Kennedy International Airport in New York before traveling to Washington D.C on Thursday evening

Despite reports in 2018 that he would be unable to enter the United States, Atiku was received by the Governor of Sokoto State Aminu Tambuwal; former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Ndidi Elumelu, and Senator Dino Melaye. Others present are former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka; former Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha; former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri, Atiku’s media aide, Phrank Shuaibu, and some PDP chieftains, amongst others.

The visit to the United States was significant because it dispelled any suspicions that Atiku could not travel to the United States. The PDP presidential flagbearer also commenced a weeklong electioneering campaign in the US, where he will meet with Nigerians and members of the business sector. According to The Punch, Atiku would meet with Nigerians in the Diaspora as well as PDP members in North America as part of his programs and engagements while in the US.
