- As the 2023 presidential election draws nearer, the APC and PDP members continue to throw shades at each other
- Through Femi Fani Kayode, Tinubu has stated that the opposition party led by Atiku’s candidacy is in panic as they are scared of Bola Tinubu’s chances of emerging victorious at the presidential polls
Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has characterized Atiku Abubakar and the PDP as nervous because they knew he would win next year’s presidential election.
The latest Tinubu’s view was contained in a statement by the Director, of Special Media Projects and New Media, Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) of APC, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode.
The remarks were made as Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong declared that former Lagos Governor and APC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar was the most qualified candidate to lead Nigeria at this point in its history.
At the same time, the National Youth Leader of the APC, Mr. Israel Dayo, called on young people in the state to cast a large number of votes for the party’s candidates in the general election of 2023 while ensuring Tinubu of victory in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.
In a statement by Fani-Kayode, PCC claimed that the primary opposition party’s constant fabrications about Tinubu’s health and age were motivated by the politician’s popularity.
When responding to a statement about Tinubu’s health by Senator Dino Melaye, a spokesperson for the PDP campaign council, Fani-Kayode insisted that, compared to Atiku, Tinubu was as fit as a fiddle.
Fani-Kayode alleged that, unlike the former vice president, Tinubu “has nothing to hide and has no skeletons in his cupboard. Atiku cannot come anywhere near Asiwaju in terms of his mental or physical virility or acumen.
Whether mentally, physically, or spiritually, Atiku is very far behind.” Fani-Kayode stressed that no matter what they said about Tinubu, he had never betrayed those that helped him to power. “He is loyal to his own to a fault, whilst Atiku does not know the meaning of the word,” the APC spokesman said.
He claimed that Atiku was attempting to suggest that he was integral to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s achievements while in reality, he was attempting to thwart those efforts to improve the lives of the populace, claiming that such a person cannot be trusted with power.
Fani-Kayode stated, “Atiku and his camp know that Jagaban will win this election hands down and as each day passes, it is getting clearer. That is why they are so jittery. That is why they resort to nothing but falsehood, insults, and abuse. That is why the only thing they talk about is Jagaban’s health and age.
“We want a campaign that centers on issues, but Atiku and his friends do not even know the meaning of the word. His team is ignorant, uncouth, disrespectful, and utterly primitive and nothing reflects or manifests that more than the vituperations and asinine contributions of his garrulous, thuggish, and undisciplined spokesmen.”

Meanwhile, the Christians Association of Nigeria(CAN) has kicked against the endorsement of the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu by a delegation of Abuja-based pastors and bishops on Sunday who they described as having the right frame of mind to rule the country.
Following a town hall meeting with some party chieftains of Tinubu’s support group, City Boy Movement, clerics affiliated with the Nigerian Coalition of Pastors for Good Leadership decided to support the former governor of Lagos State.
The coalition’s president, Apostle Babatunde Oguntimehin, and secretary, Rev. Friday Obi, jointly signed a statement in which they stated that it would be unfair for Nigerians to sacrifice the APC candidate’s qualifications on the altar of the divisive Muslim-Muslim ticket.
The statement read in parts, “For a start, we are fully in support of the power shift to the South after President Muhammadu Buhari, a northerner, would have ruled for eight years. This is for equity and fairness as well as in the spirit of the existing unwritten rule to have power rotate between the North and the South.
“We were left to choose between His Excellencies Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Peter Gregory Obi, who are the frontline candidates from the South. After consideration of so many critical factors and wide consultation, we have decided to settle for the candidacy of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima.”
The endorsement was rebuffed by Luminous Jannamike, Special Assistant on Media to CAN President, Most Rev. Daniel Okoh, who claimed the group of clergy is anonymous.
As much as the organization cannot stop individuals and self-styled ministers from carrying out their activities, Jannamike stated that they cannot be seen taking sides with religious groups that are not affiliated with CAN.
He said, “The message is very simple and clear. We still stand on our earlier stance of ‘No to same faith ticket.’ As far as we are concerned, they are a faceless group. We can really be seen joining issues with them. They are free to do what they want to do.
“We need to be conscious of the fact that people have the right to congregate under any platform they want and say whatever they want. These people are not affiliated with CAN and we don’t even know them. They (Abuja pastors) are individuals who chose to endorse Tinubu. Good luck to them!”
